Joan Boon King

Joan Boon King was born November 26, 1932, to V.H. and Evelyn Finger Boon in Hondo, Texas. She died August 21, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Joan was raised in Hondo where she attended St. John's Catholic Grade School; graduated from Hondo High School and earned an associate degree from Kellogg Community College. Joan and M.D. King were married in 1955. They lived in McAllen, Fort Worth and Houston, Texas; Battle Creek, Michigan, and Bethany, Oklahoma. Her husband was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration. Joan had lived in Yukon since 1989.

She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom, raising their children, but worked intervals as a secretary and retired from Francis Tuttle Vo-tech in 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three sons, Miles L., John Marcus, and infant son Philip D. King; daughter Mary Catherine King; one brother John E. Boon and wife Margaret; one sister-in-law Carolyn Boon, and two canine "girls" Rosie and Sunny.

She is survived by sons, Paul (Darlene) King, Curtis King, Thomas (Sibylle) King; daughters, Clair (Bob) Sneed, and Jean-Marie (Kirk) Otto, 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and brother, Herbert J. Boon.

She will be laid to rest beside her husband and son, John M. King. Funeral Services will be held for Joan at St. David's Episcopal Church, Oklahoma City, OK on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with a private burial following.
