Joe Marvin Boucherie

Joe Marvin Boucherie was born on August 26, 1946, to Cecil A. and Velva Lorene (Staford) Boucherie in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. He passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

When the family returned to the mainland, they settled in Los Angeles, California. Joe was a 1964 graduate of John Marshall High School in Los Angeles. He continued his education at Los Angeles City College and U.C.L.A. While working at Los Angeles water and power, friends asked Joe to take up the guitar and join their band. He was already an accomplished violinist, and playing the guitar was an easy transition. Joe was hired by Spike Jones, Jr. to perform in Las Vegas for 4 weeks in a tribute show to Spike Jones, Sr. From there, he traveled to Montreal, Canada to record. On his return trip in 1972, he stopped in Oklahoma City to see his parents who had moved here after retiring. He decided to stay. Joe continued performing as a solo artist as well as with groups across Oklahoma, performing at weddings, private parties, and clubs across Oklahoma.

In the later years of his career, he found great pleasure in providing entertainment at memory care facilities for dementia and Alzheimer's patients who often remembered the music of their youth, which gave them joy. Joe was a kind and gentle soul. He loved the Lord, his family, and animals. He was always willing to share what he had with others.

Joe is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" Frankenfield; sister Sharon Miller; cousins, Dorothy West of Versailles, KY and Ellen Wilder of Choctaw, OK; daughter Cecily Boucherie of Yukon, OK; two nephews; and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother Robert Carl "Bobby" Boucherie; grandparents, Marvin T. and Dovie (Connelly) Stafford and Joseph A. and Abbie Oliver Boucherie; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at the Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m., at Bethel Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
