John Thomas Bush

John Thomas Bush, 84, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, in Mustang, Oklahoma. Born on October 28, 1941, in Cushing, Oklahoma, John lived a life marked by helping others.

John was the son of William and Wauneeta (Raffety) Bush and grew up in Cushing, where he graduated from Cushing Schools in 1960. It was there that he met the love of his life, Pat Forcum. The two married on March 11, 1961, and began a journey together that spanned over six decades having recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Early in their marriage, John secured a position at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. He later transferred to the FAA, where he worked diligently for 26 years. His career brought the family to Mustang in 1969 where they raised their three daughters.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, John served his country with pride as a member of both the Army and Air Force National Guards where he was a member of the Military Police and Color Guard during his service.

John had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife at their acreage south of Mustang, spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren and working the land with his tractor were among his favorite pastimes. His practical nature was complemented by an extraordinary generosity that touched countless lives. Whether it was providing food to those in need, offering a kind tip to a waitress, or extending help to strangers facing challenges, John's actions reflected his compassionate spirit. As his family fondly remembers: "This was John."

John was especially proud of his children and grandchildren's accomplishments in life and was always bragging about them to anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Pat Bush; daughters, Terra Ferguson and her husband Rick, Mary Curtis and her husband Ron, and Tracy.  He also leaves behind grandchildren: Courtney Hungerford and her husband Matt, Brandon Ferguson and his wife Adelina and Lauryn Curtis; great-grandchildren, Keleigh Hungerford and Aden Thomas Ferguson; brother, Ronnie Bush and his wife Judy and sister Kay Disel, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents William and Wauneeta Bush and his brother Robert Bush.

John's legacy is one of fairness, loyalty and unconditional generosity to those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
