John Robert Hester

John Robert Hester, age 77, was born on February 12, 1948, in Wichita Falls, TX, and passed from this life on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home in Edmond, OK.

Raised in Frederick, OK, John graduated from Frederick High School and continued his education at Cameron University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. He later attended Southern Methodist University, receiving his master's degree in banking. John devoted 40 years to a successful career in banking, retiring as President of BancFirst.

An active member of the Frederick community, John served as President of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club, and as a deacon at First Baptist Church. He also gave many years of service as a member of the Western Oklahoma State College Board of Regents, the Frederick School Enrichment Foundation, and as a member and sponsor of the Bomber Boosters. His passion for youth and leadership inspired him to mentor many young men throughout his life.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Leon Hester; mother, Cora Evelyn Young; stepfather, Franklin Alvoid Young; sister, Elizabeth Robertson; brother-in-law, Elery Robertson; and nephew, Gregory Dean Robertson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pam Hester; daughters, Kelli Roberts and husband Jeremy, and Lindsay Roof and husband Reagan; grandchildren, Grace Roberts, Brooks Roberts, Reese Roof, and River Roof; as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Frederick, Oklahoma. A private interment will be held at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, OK.
