Karen Kay Powers

Karen Kay Powers, 62, of Yukon, Oklahoma passed away on August 2nd after a long and courageously hard-fought battle with three cancers.

Karen was born on April 8, 1961, to Thurman and Bocca Cagle in Gilmer, Texas. Karen was Valedictorian at Harmony High School and Duchess of the Yamboree.  After Karen graduated from Harmony High School, she attended Southern Nazarene University. From there, Karen went on to a wonderful life-long and successful career with State Farm Insurance.

In 1990, Karen married Shaun Powers in Bethany, Oklahoma. Karen and Shaun went on to have their pride and joy, Cody, a son born October 27, 1992.

Karen had a tremendous love of life! She loved traveling with Shaun and Cody, whether it was the mountains of Durango, Colorado or the cruise ships that went to Grand Cayman and St. Martin Islands. Karen was an avid sports fan and loved her Texas Longhorns, but she loved rooting for the Sooners and the Cowboys when they weren't playing the Longhorns. Karen also loved to give, giving is what Karen did best. She was one of the most generous souls one could ever meet.

Karen was preceded in death by her sister Carol, brother, Scott, father, Thurman and multiple grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Karen is survived by her husband, Shaun; son, Cody; mom, Bocca; brother, Neil; sister, Pat, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5th, 2023, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK.
