Katie "Jennell" Shults

Katie Jennell Shults, 76, of Oklahoma City, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born on September 4, 1949, Jennell was the daughter of Jimmie Dee and Elsa Rae Leatherwood and the loving wife of Lester "Leon" Shults. She passed away following a short battle with pneumonia after undergoing emergency surgery.

She is survived by her son, Sean Porterfield; her daughter, Leanna Shults Matthews; and 11 great-grandchildren, all residing in Oklahoma City and Duncan.

Jennell worked in the Legal Department at Halliburton from 1977 until her retirement in 1998. She enjoyed playing cards, reading romance stories, and spending time with her grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and her faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
