Kenneth Warren Daniels

Kenneth Warren Daniels passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, October 25, 2024. He was surrounded by his wife and children.

Ken was born on December 31, 1936 and was (in his words) "the cutest little new year's baby you ever did see!" He married his darlin, Freddie Daniels, on February 18, 1967. They have three daughters, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Ken graduated from Classen High School in OKC in 1955 then attended OU briefly—making more of a presence at the frat house than in his classes. He joined the Marines in 1957 and earned more honors and awards than any other in the boot camp series, including expert rifleman, honor man, and the coveted Leatherneck Dress Blues award. He said he was pretty proud of his record but love and money couldn't make him go through boot camp again! After boot camp, he earned a few more military awards before returning back to OKC. For a short period, Ken worked with his father (Lorin Argyle Daniels) who had been recruited by Beverly Osbourne to oversee the bakery for Beverly's restaurant franchise. In 1960, Ken established his own business, Ken's Bakery, which remains a thriving business today.

Ken was incredibly witty, loved to tease, and had an eclectic taste in music. If he wasn't listening to someone talk, he was most likely singing or humming his own tune. It is hard to describe the impact he had on others. He had a way of making even strangers feel like they were friends. Freddie used to tease that she could never send him on a short errand because he would inevitably end up in conversation with the store clerks and other customers. Once on vacation, the family vehicle caught fire. By the time the car had been towed to service, Ken had struck up a friendship with the provider who had our family over for dinner that night and remained a treasured friend for many years.

Ken is survived by his wife of 57 years, Freddie Daniels; daughters, Lynn Stickney (Mike Stickney), Lisa Daniels (Jake Thurston), and Laura Daniels; grandchildren, Michael Stickney (Jenn Stickney), Sarah Williams (Cory Williams), Josh Stickney (Tanner Allread), Zach Daniels, Kenneth Chase Daniels, Isabella Daniels; great-grandchildren, Siler Stickney, Grayson Stickney, Levi Williams, Noah Williams. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Christa Lynn Stickney and great-grandson Luke Williams.

Ken was fiercely committed to his all of relationships and will be just as fiercely missed. His legacy of laughter, wisdom, compassion, unconditional love, and joyful spirit will be cherished in our hearts forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 1st at 1:00 pm at St. Stephens Presbyterian Church (2424 NW 50th St, OKC).
