Leona Wavlean Cates

Leona Wavlean Cates, age 89, passed away on June 5, 2024, in Yukon, OK, with her beloved daughter, granddaughter, and grandson by her side. She was born in Coffee County, TN, on September 20, 1934, to father Alton Harmon and mother Rena Harmon.

Leona was married to Elbert R. Cates, and the pair had two beautiful children, including: son Charles E. Cates, age 65, of Tullahoma, TN, and daughter Shirley A. Reid, age 64, of Yukon, OK. Leona loved her family. She was a confident and outspoken woman when it came to her family and beliefs. Leona will be greatly remembered and missed dearly.

Leona is preceded in death by her husband Elbert R. Cates; siblings Mildred Brown and Ruby Driver; son in law Donald Reid, Sr.; grandson Donald Reid, Jr.; great-granddaughter Danalda A. Reid; along with many other loved ones.

She is survived by siblings Ruth Duke, Maudie Duke, and Morris Winfrey; children Charles Cates and Shirley Reid; grandson Chad (Amberliegh) Reid and Anthony Powers and family;  granddaughter Misty (Duane) O'Daniel; family; great-granddaughters Breanna Walters and Shanna Burden; great-grandsons Luke T. Reid and Coaty (McKenzie) O'Daniel; and great-great-grandchildren Legend Preston, Kingsley Preston, Leyla ODaniel, and Irelynn ODaniel.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday June 7, 2024, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, OK.
