Lewis Ray Hatfield

Lewis Ray Hatfield, age 81, passed away unexpectedly in the midst of making plans to move to Texas on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Lewis was born in Crowder, Oklahoma, to a large family of six siblings, four brothers and two sisters. He entered the United States Air Force in 1961 and faithfully served his country, retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1981. He married Elane (Upchurch) Puckett in 1965, and had two children, Michael and Robin. Lewis continued to serve his country in the United States Federal Civil Service, first as an explosives worker at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, and later as a warehouseman with the Defense Logistics Agency at Tinker Air Force Base. He retired in 2006.

Lewis married Norma Hatfield in 1991, and they spent a wonderful life together enjoying family. Lewis was a talented and innovative craftsman. He enjoyed carpentry and electrical projects in particular, but nothing was outside his grasp.

Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents, James (Fowler) Hatfield and Edith (Melton) Hatfield; step-father, W.O. Eager; brothers, Jim, Tommy, Perry, and Jackie; and his sister, Pauline Marie. He is survived by his sister, Joyce (Hatfield) McWilliams; son, Michael Hatfield and wife Stacy; daughter, Robin Hatfield; step-daughter, Denisa Dinwiddie and husband Billy; step-sons, Chris Columbus and wife Kim, and Terry Columbus and wife Jenny; grandchildren Lauren, Jacob, Asher, Thomas, Sean-Michael, Leanna, Aaron, Amy, Matt, Marcie, Teran, Kendall, and Aiden; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Tecumseh Cemetery in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.
