Lois Mae Casey

Lois Mae (Morton) Casey was born in Wichita, Kansas March 18, 1930, and passed to eternity  January 3, 2024 In Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 93.  As a child Lois lived on a farm in Coffey County, Kansas with her parents, M.L. (Lonie) and Elia Morton.  She graduated from Westphalia High School , Westphalia Kansas.

Lois married Harvey Casey December 16, 1948; they were married 61 years 11 months.  Lois followed her husband in his work in Kansas, Iowa, then to Oklahoma.  Lois was a seamstress who sewed for family and many other people for several years, and made quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.

In September 1956, the family became acquainted with the Church of the Nazarene in Herington, Kansas.  It wasn't long before she gave her life to the Lord and became a faithful member.  Isaiah 43:1, "I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine," became her life Bible verse.

Lois was a busy housewife and mother along with being very active in her church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years for various age groups in Kansas, Iowa, and Yukon, Oklahoma.  She was Children's Church Director for 11 years serving in El Reno and Yukon, Oklahoma Nazarene churches.  She visited people in their homes, lead Sunday afternoon devotions in the Ranchwood Nursing Home each month, and quite often lead devotional services at the Senior Center. Lois was a real estate sales associate for about 10 years, also a church board member for many years.

Lois went to college at what was Bethany Nazarene College (Southern Nazarene University), where she received a Bible Certificate in 1981, and following that received her District Minister's License. In April 2014 she was ordained a deaconess in the Church of the Nazarene and retired in 2017.  Due to failing health Lois went to live at Gran Gran's Nursing Home in Yukon, Oklahoma in January 2017.  She was an active participant of the various activities of the Home.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many other relatives.  Lois and Harvey had 3 children, Iona Tull and husband Charles, Marlin Casey and wife Becky, Phyllis West and husband Larry, 5 grandchildren:  Aaron Casey, Nicholas Casey, Allen West, Nancy Brown, Kay Rios, and 14 great-grandchildren.

The celebration service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, with burial following in the Frisco Cemetery.
