Luther "Bennie" Benjamin Barks

Luther "Bennie" Benjamin Barks, 82, of Mustang passed away July 20, 2023 at his home, peacefully surrounded by his family.

Bennie was born May 1, 1941 to William Burton Barks and Billie (Mink) Barks in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He attended school in Hinton, Oklahoma, graduating in 1960. Bennie lettered in football and track, and also set a new broad jump record during one of his high school track meets.

Bennie married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Fay Fisher, on July 16, 1960, and together had three children. After marriage, Bennie went to work at Grahamans Implement Co., and then Moss JD Implement Co. in 1979. He later started his own trucking company, locally hauling rocks and sand. After retirement, Bennie went to work for El Reno Sod Farm, retiring in 2016.

Bennie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Wanda; sons, Wayne and wife Susan, and Brian and wife Tara; daughter, Kelly and husband Cliff; grandchildren:  Kala, Lindsey, Austin, Taylor, Noah and fiancé Sarah Graham, Presley, Damion and wife Melinda, Cody and wife Amy, Steeli and husband Taylor, Alysa and husband Marc, and Sawyar and Jamie; 13 great grandkids, and 2 great-great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Billie; brothers, Murray and Jim; sister Marjorie, and parents-in-law, O.R. and Edith Fisher.

Viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 24 at Mustang United Methodist Church, 211 W.
