Macarthur "Mac" Lee Devilbiss

MacArthur "Mac" Lee DeVilbiss, 83, of Yukon, OK, passed away Thursday March 19, 2026 at Integris Hospital in OKC, OK. He was born Thursday April 16, 1942 in Waynoka, OK to Loren V. and Jesse M. (Buckland) DeVilbiss.

Mac attended Waynoka public schools. His senior year, he was elected Class President of the largest class in Waynoka history. He was particularly proud that Waynoka had 53 seniors compared to the 47 that Yukon produced that same year of 1960. Mac was also selected Captain of the football team and voted Most Popular! In FFA, he exhibited the 3rd best steer 3 years in a row at the Tulsa State Fair. He selected and paid $15 for a barrow that won Grand Champion at the NW District Livestock Show. In livestock judging, he was the High Individual judge at the State Interscholastics in Stillwater.

In college, Mac was the high individual livestock judge at the national contest in Houston. In addition, he won the contest in Ft. Worth.

On December 28, 1968, he married Linda Kaye Adams. They began their married life in Yukon, OK. Undoubtedly, Mac's greatest accomplishment was when he impressed Linda so much that after two hours of driving around Waynoka at the annual Rattlesnake Hunt, she announced to her grandparents that she was going to marry him! Mac once commented that Linda had the warmest heart and the coldest feet of anyone he had ever met!!

Mac had a rewarding 40 years as the Ag Teacher at Yukon High School. On Mac's first day on the job at Yukon, he won 1st place in the horseshoe pitching contest at the Canadian County Fair. During his career at Yukon, his students had over 200 steers make the premium sale at OKC. In 1996, he had a record 17 head selected for the premium sale with 9 of the 14 head in the Grand Drive including the overall Grand Champion steer! In 1999, his students had the top 3 steers in the show along with 6 Breed champions! That same year, he was selected as Yukon's Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the State award. In 2009, he was the recipient of the Oklahoma Agricultural Education Teachers Hall of Fame!

Becoming "Pa" to Mackena and Gage was one of the main highlights of his life. He cherished sharing Mackena's passion for showing cattle and took great pride in watching her follow his career path to become an Ag Teacher. Many don't know that he was the one who introduced Gage to golf at a very young age. While he loved watching him play, he often joked and said that "Play 9 save time" was a much better use of his day.

He is survived by his kids, son, Bret DeVilbiss and his wife, Kayla, of Yukon, OK, and daughter, Heather Tennyson and her husband, Michael, of Yukon, OK; two grandkids, Mackena and Gage Tennyson; one great-granddaughter, Raylin Dawn; his brothers-in-law, Tony and Steve Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Adrian and Glenn DeVilbiss; his sister, Lorna Slater; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie Adams.

"End of the Trail—No Tears" services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Discovery Church, 900 E. Main St., Yukon, OK.

Mac requested that everyone wear orange—especially the few Sooner friends he had.

While he loved flowers and plants, he was especially passionate about supporting hardworking young agriculturists through scholarships.
