Marian Colleen (Jensen) Columbus

Marian Colleen Jensen Columbus, age 57, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Wednesday March 22nd. Marian was born in Lebanon, Indiana on June 30th, 1965 to her mother, Doris Jensen and her father, Lane Jensen.  Marian was later adopted by Pat Jensen who was the mother she never knew she needed. Marian spent most of her young life with her brother and sisters, Kathy Jensen, Jeannine (Jensen) Plourde, and David Jensen. They loved and adored her tremendously. Growing up, the family moved around quite often, but the beaches of Tampa Florida were special to her.  Although Florida was special, Marian found Yukon, Oklahoma to be her home. Marian excelled in everything she did; she did exceptional in school as well as sports. In high school, track & field was her passion.  She even excelled in the dental industry. I think everyone that works in dentistry knows the name "Marian Columbus." She met her first husband, Terry Columbus, in high school with whom she had two wonderful children, Marcie (Columbus) Bennett and Teran Columbus who were her entire world. As everyone knows, she was a woman who gave all she could between being a new mom and starting her career with My Dentist.  Marian helped the late Dr. Rodney Pat Steffen grow My Dentist from a small dental clinic in 1983 to a chain of clinics across the Midwest. After she helped sell My Dentist, she found herself spending the most time with her kids enjoying the final stages of their high school career making sure she was a part of every art show and tennis game. After she retired, she volunteered her time to help other dental clinics grow and spent her time living what she would call a "fun" life. Marian had a passion for music and often went to concerts and shows whenever she could, to hear her all-time favorite music artists. Marian was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. She is survived by her daughter, her son, grandchild, siblings, and parents. There will be a Celebration of Life service held for Marian at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29th at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon.
