Marion "J.R." E. Baker, Jr.

On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Marion Baker, Jr. - lovingly known as J.R. - passed away at the age of 78 in his home in Yukon, Oklahoma. J.R. was born in Hitchcock, Oklahoma, on December 4th, 1944, to Marion and Hilda Baker. He grew up farming wheat with his family. He was very active in Future Farmers of America and graduated from Omega High School in 1962.

After high school, J.R. pursued a career in the lumber and building industry. He worked his way up and became the president of a local lumber company. He retired from the building industry in April 2019. He also served in the Army Reserves.

J.R. married Roxanne (Runyon) on March 21, 1981. Outside of work, J.R. had many hobbies that he enjoyed, including gardening, fishing, woodworking, and model railroading. He had a green thumb and loved to tend to his large garden, growing fresh vegetables for his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed fishing and spent many weekends at the lake with his loved ones.

J.R. was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather.  His legacy will continue through his wife, Roxanne; his daughter, Amy (Baker) Tharp and her husband, Stephen; his daughter, Lysa Baker; and his grandchildren, Kalynn, Evan, Ryan, and Abigail.

J.R. will always be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his passion for his hobbies. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A private family service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, please spend time with your family and create new memories.
