Marjorie Alice Green

Our beloved mother, Marjorie, went to be with our Heavenly Father at the grand age of 94 on 23 March 2024.  She was an amazing daughter, mother, sister in Christ and a friend to many. She was a blessing to all she met because she never met a stranger.

Marjorie Alice (Buck) Green was born on February 12,1930 in Oklahoma City, Ok to Alpha Mae Denison and William Olen Buck. Her family moved from Oklahoma City to Lincoln, NE, and then to Ponca City, Oklahoma. She graduated high school in 1948 from Ponca City High School, Ponca City, Oklahoma. Her family relocated after her graduation, finally settling in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Marjorie was a lifelong learner.  She attended Oklahoma State University and Cameron University night classes. She actively participated in all her children's activities and organizations while working full time for the Oklahoma State Highway Department. Upon her retirement, she also taught word processing and knitting at the local Vocational Technical school in Duncan, Oklahoma.  She was also a quilter and proficient embroiderer designing unique blocks for her quilts.

She loved to travel, and her motto was "if you don't get lost at least once, it's not a trip"!  She traveled internationally, as well as within the United States, and lived and worked in Bahrain for 18 months.

She was incredibly involved in her church activities in Duncan, Ada, and Mustang, Oklahoma throughout her life.  Marjorie suffered a major stroke in November 2017 but worked diligently to regain her strength and return to her home and her dog, Charlie.  She remained in her home with Charlie, teaching Childrens' Church at Mustang Christian Church, and visiting with best friend and neighbor, Sandy Lovelace, and friends until shortly before her passing.

Marjorie is survived by her three children: Ellen (Gordon), Allen (Wanda), and Cheryl, Grandchildren: Teresa (Scott), Wesley (Maggie), Don Allen (Julie), Great Grandchildren: Sydney, Camden, Alyssia, Malaina, Jack, as well as step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by Tony and Lisa Jones, her church "children."

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles and Billie, husband Jack Green, stepchildren Alice Lowrance and Jerry Green, son-in-law Jim, and first husband Gene Lynch.
