Marqueitta Yulene Carroll

Marqueitta Yulene Carroll, age 74, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, September 11th, 2026 in Yukon, OK. Marqueitta was born in Enid, OK on January 21, 1952, daughter of the late Marion Joan Sholtess (Patzkowski) and Bobby Dean Sholtess. Marqueitta was also preceded in death by her brother, Marion Dean Sholtess and sister-in-law, Deborah Sholtess. She is survived by her daughter, Laura JoAn Powell (James Powell), of Yukon, OK; Lorena Glaser (John Glaser), of New Mexico; Grandchildren Christina Nicole Cox, Kaitlynn Foster (Matt Foster), and Lauren Glaser; and great-grandson Asher Moore.

Marqueitta was known for her love of all God’s creatures and showing kindness to those around her. She survived Hodgkins Lymphoma as a child and was given a puppy, Pansy, as a gift to help her feel better. She loved her so much that she continued to talk about her until she passed. As a teenager, she and Marion went to their local animal shelter and promised to find all their animals a home before the weekend was over, which they did. Marqueitta often told her daughter, Laura that she had inherited her love of dogs from her because she was thinking of Pansy while she was in labor with her. She was a soprano in the school choir, played the piano, and loved hearing her daughters sing. She had always wanted a Thunderbird car back in high school, and was finally able to buy her own later in life. There was a bacteriophage discovered by her daughter, Laura, that is currently listed in a bioinformatics database, Phagesdb.org, that is an ohmage to her nickname, Keitabear. She loved having her family together for holidays and attending church.

Marqueitta worked for over 40 years at Integris Baptist Hospital in the Accounts Payable department of the business office. Once Marqueitta retired, she enjoyed reading the Bible on her front porch, spending time with family, card making with friends, and attending cooking classes at the Bethany Library. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church, 501 N. Clear Springs Rd., Mustang, OK, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City.
