Marvin Lee Compton

Marvin Lee Compton, 100, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on December 17, 1925, Marvin lived a century-long life marked by service, faith, family, and dedication to his community. He moved to Yukon with his parents in 1940 from Miltonvale, Kansas, and graduated from Yukon High School in 1943.

Shortly after graduation, Marvin served his country during World War II, first as a Merchant Marine delivering war supplies and later in the United States Army. He served in the Pacific Theater, participating in the liberation of the Philippine Islands. He later served at General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters in South Korea. He was honorably discharged with the rank of First Sergeant.

Throughout his civilian life, Marvin worked at USAF Base at Tinker Field, Oklahoma Publishing Company, and Tri-State Milk Company in Amarillo, Texas. He owned and operated a Texaco service station on Main Street in Yukon. For 20 years, he proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with the Yukon Fire Department before retiring in 1976. Marvin later retired from the United States Postal Service in 1988. He was a proud member of the American Legion for 75 years and a faithful member of First Christian Church of Yukon.

Marvin was an avid sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing pool, golf, basketball, and softball. He spent many years playing on baseball and softball teams in Yukon, El Reno, and Oklahoma City. He was known for his competitive spirit, quick wit, and camaraderie, and he loved shooting pool with his friends at Spanish Cove Retirement Center.

Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Maxine "Toots" Compton; his father, John Perry Compton; his mother, Vera Eliza (McNeil) Compton; and his brothers, Leslie Ray Compton and Dix Compton.

He is survived by his children, John Compton of Yukon, Oklahoma, Paul and Linda Compton of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Leigh and Rob Jordan of Mustang, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jillian and Brian Taylor of El Reno, Oklahoma; Adam and Jill Compton of El Reno, Oklahoma; Matthew and Laura Goucher of Piedmont, Oklahoma; and Jacob Jordan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Colten Compton, Abbigayle Price, Gabriel Compton, Brogan Compton, Madeline Taylor, Reed Taylor, Bryce Goucher, and Blake Goucher.

Marvin spent more than eight decades as a member of the Yukon community, where he was known for his service, faith, love of sports, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at Yukon Cemetery on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., with military honors rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a local blood bank or to organizations that provide services to those in need.
