Marvin Lee Novak

Marvin Lee Novak was born at home north of Yukon, Oklahoma on November 16, 1934. He passed from this life on January 14, 2024 at Spanish Cove Retirement Village. Marvin graduated from Yukon High School with the class of 1954.  Marvin started his freshman year at Phillips University with the intention of being a band director.  He soon learned this was not his calling and transferred to Oklahoma City University, where he earned an Industrial Arts degree in 1958.  Marvin was a man of many talents; he could do anything or fix anything. He kept many boxes of used parts thinking he might use them to fix something.  Marvin worked for Ford Motor Company, tractor division as the Service Manager for Western Oklahoma and the panhandle of Texas.  He then became an instructor in the Ford Motor Company training center in Paris, Texas. He returned to the farm in 1972 when his father became ill.  He pursued his love of music playing tuba in the Jerry Kaplan polka band for many years. Marvin was an advocate for vocational technology education. He was elected the first chairman of the Canadian Valley Vo Tech Board. During his time as chairman, the land for the school was purchased and the first superintendent of schools was hired. After many years, Marvin served on the Canadian Valley Technology Foundation board.  Marvin also served on the Mid-Continent Farmers Co-op board, the Yukon Cotton Gin board, and the Farm Credit Board of East Central Oklahoma for 33 years.  He also served on the East Canadian County Soil Conversation board for 40 plus years. Marvin was a very active member of West Point Christian Church. He mowed the lawn, made many repairs, and was honored by being named an elder emeritus.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, T.R. and Clara Novak, brother, Bob and wife Jo Novak, and son, Mark Novak. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Charlotte Novak; son, Scott Novak and Denise Moore; grandchildren, Kristi Novak, Simontha Cassel, Kyle and JJ Novak, Megan and Tricia Hollis, and Dakota and Elizabeth Moore; great-grandchildren Wyatt DeBord, Grayson Moore, and Evelyn Moore; as well as many other family members.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Skilled Nursing unit of Spanish Cove and the staff of the Good Shepherd Hospice for their care of Marvin.

Viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 18, at West Point Christian Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
