Mary Alice Burks

Mary Alice (Blackburn) Burks passed peacefully from this earth to her heavenly home on the morning of September 4, 2026.

She was born on November 15, 1939, in Macomb, Oklahoma, to Rose and James Blackburn. Mary Alice enjoyed her career as a tester at AT&T and retired in 1997.

After retirement, she traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico alongside her beloved husband, Jessie Burks, with their Winnebago Club. She loved cooking, hosting holidays in her home, and caring for her grandchildren.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and James Blackburn; her husband, Jessie Burks; her daughter, Krysti Pope; her son, Timothy Newby; her son-in-law, John Hibbs; and her granddaughters, Brandee Hammons, Kaley Baker-Cunningham, and Ashlynn Pope-Trainer.

She is survived by her sons, Rick and his wife, Silvia, Greg, and Mike; her daughter, Cindy; her close friends, Debbie and Michael Knighton; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her church family; and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mary Alice's life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, at South Yukon Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Yukon Cemetery.
