Maurita Rae "Marti" Kelly

Maurita Rae "Marti" (Maurer) Kelly died peacefully at 1:30 am on Sunday, September 14, 2025, after a brave and vigorous battle with cancer. Her time of departure is not surprising since she was such a night owl. She was surrounded by her two daughters and one "bonus" daughter. She delighted in being with her girls, so it was the perfect send-off to her heavenly home.

Marti was born and raised in Oklahoma City. Her greatest joy was spending time with close friends and family, especially her 5 grandchildren. She made life-long friends in her childhood neighborhood who call themselves "The 15th Street Gang" and they maintain their bond to this day. She was also loved and cared for by her sorority sisters: Delta Theta Chi OK Zeta Chapter.

Marti graduated from nursing school in 1978. She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years, mainly serving as a surgical nurse. Her hobbies included swimming, dancing, knitting, cross-stitching, playing the piano, and gardening.

She was a beautiful, proud, American. Both parents served in the Army, and she always honored them and their service. She was also quick to honor others who committed themselves to our country.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Rae and Virginia Maurer, her husband: Russell Mitchell, her sister: Ellen Clark, and her grandson: Nathan Bound. She is survived by her two daughters: Lori and Lana, her son-in-law: Andy, five grandchildren: Aidan, Maddi, Kael, Hannah, Trevor, and her two great grandchildren: Alicia and Asa, and her treasured Shih tzu: Asher.

The memorial service will be Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 am, at Yanda and Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK 73099. Her ashes will be buried at Yukon Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, Russell Mitchell.
