Melanie Ann Williams

Melanie Ann (Downey) Williams of Yukon, OK, passed away October 9, 2022 at the age of 74.   She was born May 3, 1948, in Emporia, Kansas to Edward Downey and Erma Lee Maxine Robinson.   At the age of 9, her family moved to Oklahoma where she lived the rest of her life.  In 1966, Melanie graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School and then attended The University of Oklahoma for one year and was a Sooners Fan forever!

In 1968, she met and married her husband, Bobby Joe Williams and just celebrated their 54 ^th wedding anniversary August 31, 2022.  They moved to Yukon in 1976, where they raised their two daughters, Leslie Diane and Margie Dawn.

Melanie was best known as Mom and Mamaw.  Her family was the most important thing to her.  She will be greatly missed by her husband, Bobby Joe Williams; daughter, Leslie Jackson and husband Roger; daughter, Margie Williams-Timm; six grandchildren:  Jace Ryan Jackson, Zada Madison (Timm) Rider, Sarena Rose Timm, Ryker Walter Timm, Brynn LeAnne Jackson and Paxon William Timm;  sisters, Susan Haehn and Dawn Downey-Schroeder, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Melanie loved being Mamaw the most and was looking forward to meeting her first great-grandson in December.

Melanie loved playing cards - especially Nertz with her grandkids; watching OU Football and OU Softball; gardening over the years and was very proud of continuing growing plants passed on for generations.  She was an amazing artist painting oil canvases, ceramics and wood pieces.  She could paint eyes and eyelashes like nobody else bringing pieces to life.  She was primarily a homemaker but also a Campfire Leader, bowling coach for youth, sold real estate for a time, worked at Wal-Mart and did various bookkeeping or administrative assistant jobs over the years.

Viewing will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon, OK, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.  Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 13, at 2 p.m., at the Yukon Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome or donations can be made in her memory to St Jude's or Disabled American Veterans.
