Michael Lane Boyd

Michael Lane Boyd, Sr. passed away peacefully February 12, 2023.  Mike was born in Renfroe, Leake County, Mississippi on October 22, 1942 to Bozie and Clara Bell Ashcraft Boyd.

Mike graduated from Pine Bluff Arkansas High School class of 1960.  He enjoyed attending class reunions and keeping up with his classmates over the years.  James and Peggy White remained some of his closest friends. Mike always enjoyed reminiscing of the fun and trouble he & James stirred up during his youth. Mike had a long career serving as Vice President of Boyd Chevrolet in Oklahoma City starting in 1974. Mike helped grow the business, setting many records for the southwest US with Chevrolet.  Chevrolet honored him with several awards over the years for his achievements. He would share many memories of his days at the dealership. He would laugh and refer to the 70's and 80's car business as the Wild Wild West.  During his time there he gave some young men their first jobs in the car business who later went on to open their own dealerships.

Mike was an avid Elvis Presley fan with a vast collection of memorabilia. Including many original Elvis photos that were published in books giving Mike credit.  He enjoyed seeing Elvis in Las Vegas many times.  Graceland was always included on many family road trips.

Mike is predeceased by his son, Michael Boyd, Jr.; his siblings, Charles Boyd and Evelyn Faye Boyd Sayle.

He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Boyd Vahabzadegan and her husband Michael Vahabzadegan and his favorite grand pup, Lilly.  He is also survived by his beloved friend and former spouse Molly Boyd.

Over the years Mike did many acts of kindness to help those in need.  Among them, paying utility bills for homeless shelters.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Samaritan's Purse.  A charity that continues the acts of charity that Mike would do himself and that his son, Michael, also contributed.

There will be a gathering of loved ones in his memory at a later date.
