Mildred "Sue" Mourine Walton

Mildred “Sue” Mourine Walton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at the age of 86.

Sue was born on November 17, 1939, to Emmit Ray and Dortha Wood and was raised in Watonga, Oklahoma. It was there, at the age of 18, that she met the love of her life, Gerald “Gene” Walton. The two were married on May 24, 1959, beginning a devoted partnership that would span more than 6 decades. Shortly after their marriage, Sue and Gene made their home in Oklahoma City, where they welcomed and raised their three children, Eugenia, Dorothy, and John, building a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.

Sue proudly considered herself a wonderful wife and homemaker, dedicating herself to caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home, often hosting extended family gatherings.

She was an exceptional cake baker and decorator whose creations were enjoyed at countless celebrations. She also had a fondness for collecting trinkets and treasures, each one bringing her joy.

Sue loved spending time outdoors, tending to her flowers, and enjoying her pool. She and Gene shared a love of travel and spent many happy years exploring the United States and Canada in their RV. She never outgrew her love of cartoons and found delight in life's simple pleasures.

Above all, Sue cherished her family. Her love, strength, sense of humor, and caring nature touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion and countless treasured memories.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene, her parents and two brothers, Steven and Meridith.

She is survived by her children, Eugenia Coffey and her husband Jim, Dorothy Wilkerson and her husband Tim, and John Walton and his wife Emma; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Jane Ann and Carol; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family for generations to come. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2026 at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK, with interment following at 2:00 p.m., at East Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Watonga, OK.
