Nancie Carnahan Webb

Nancie Carnahan Webb, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went to her true home in heaven on September 27, 2023. Born in Chicago on June 16, 1932, Nancie was an eager student from early childhood and a talented pianist who loved performing as an accompanist for school and church choirs. She earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Illinois State Normal University, where she met and later married the love of her life, George B. Webb, on June 26, 1954. Upon graduation, Nancie began her career as a classroom teacher. She took a break from the classroom to become a full-time mom to five children, then obtained her Master of Arts in Reading Education from UCO and went back to classrooms at Harding Middle School and PC West before retiring in 1988. It was then she took up her next full-time occupation as a seemingly tireless professional volunteer. Nancie selflessly devoted the next thirty-five years to serving those around her, blooming wherever she was planted. While she participated in countless projects at church, at Epworth Villa, and in the community, she had a particular passion and joy in working with the Alzheimer's Association, raising awareness and encouraging and supporting caregivers.

Before moving to Epworth Villa, Nancie and George built, cared for, and enjoyed for many years their dream family homestead on Silver Lake, where Nancie pursued her love of fishing and bird watching. In all stages of life, Nancie expressed her love of art and her own creativity through being a pianist, singer, painter, writer, knitter, crocheter, gardener, and crafter.  In both word and by example, she encouraged others to find fulfilling hobbies and pursue them. One of her favorite titles was Grandma Nancie. She was a listener, teacher, and encourager to the grandchildren she loved so well -- and to so many others who fondly called her by that name.

Nancie and George were active members of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1968, where the family found community and lifelong friendships. Her strong faith was displayed in her service to others. She lived her life believing the Lord had a purpose for her in all of her days. After a very recent tumor diagnosis, Nancie knew her time here was short, and she made the most of it in typical Nancie Webb fashion, pouring into the lives of her family and friends until just a few days before she went home, where she openly longed to be.

Nancie is survived by her children Bill Webb, Susan Boyd, MD (Pierre), Patti Morris (Mike), Betsy Windholz (Tom), and Jim Webb (Stacy). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 bonus grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Nancie was preceded in death by her husband George Webb, her brother Jim Carnahan, and her grandson Peter Webb.

A celebration of Nancie's life will be held Friday, October 20 at 10:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N. Shartel Ave., OKC OK 73118. Services can be viewed livestream at https://www.wpcokc.org/livestream . In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial gifts be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Deacon's Fund, Southwest Covenant Schools in Yukon, or the Alzheimer's Association. Nancie's legacy will be remembered through her dedication to education, her selfless volunteer work, her love for her family and community, and her Christian witness. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
