Neva Jean Whipple

Neva Jean Whipple passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026 in Yukon, OK at the age of 93. She was born to Charles and Emma Larimore in Loyal Oak, OH, the fourth of five children.

She graduated from Norton High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart, James (Jim), shortly after. They welcomed a daughter, Becky Lyn, in 1952. Neva was very active in church and the church choir throughout her life. She was a member of Sweet Adelines and the Sooner Sensations, performing from CA to OK with the two groups. Affectionately known as "Nene" or "Nenie" by relatives, Neva's most loved title was "Mema", "Great Mema" and "Great Great Mema", given by her grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids! She loved them all dearly!

After several decades apart, Neva Jean and Jim reunited in 1992 and were married until Jim's passing in 2020. The two enjoyed traveling the US in their 5th wheel motor home during their later years.

Neva Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Larimore; her brothers, Burrill (Peg) Larimore and Jay (Shirley) Larimore; her sisters, Beverly (Bus) Frase and Jacqueline (Cecil) Nichols; and her niece, Paula Talley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Edgar Davis; her grandchildren, Brandy and David Spillers, and Brad and Amanda Beaty; her great-grandchildren, Sheridan and John Skelton, Breanna and George Nussbaum, and Ryan and Sage Spillers; her great-great-grandchildren, Kai and Amelia Skelton, and Elias Spillers; as well as two special friends, Pastor Becky Ray and her neighbor, Theresa.

Special thanks to Mercy Hospital's 4th Floor nurse, Maria, and the nurses at Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital, Stephen and Nyla, for the exceptional care they provided Neva Jean during her time in their facilities.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 17, at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
