Norman Kenneth Adams

Norman Kenneth Adams, of Yukon Oklahoma, passed away on January 14, 2024.

For the last thirteen years, Norman and Loretta Adams have been residents of Spanish Cove Retirement Village, in Yukon.

Norman, fondly referred to as "Doc" or Dr. Adams, was born to Virgil and Osa Adams on September 10, 1932, in Danville, Illinois.  Coming from a home where academic achievement was a top priority, Norman graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957, with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  He later completed two post-doctoral degrees in Animal Pathology and Animal Dermatology, both from Purdue University.  Norman practiced veterinary medicine at Rock Knoll Animal Hospital in Southwest Oklahoma City.

Norman was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Moore, Oklahoma until 2010   when he transferred his membership to Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon.

Norman's greatest sense of joy came from his marriage to Loretta Newell with whom he shared his life for 67 years.  This loving union produced three children: April Greenlee, Jeff Adams, and Amy Reiber.  Norman was a devoted grandfather to Sarah Bishop, Amanda Rook, Lauren Adams, and Kendall Adams.  He enjoyed four great grandchildren – Ida Bishop, Moses Bishop, Clementine McGarry, and Piper Adams.

As an only child, Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Osa and Virgil Adams and his lifelong best friend Dr. Franklin Baker.  He is survived by his wife Loretta Adams, his three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

There will be a private family interment at Yukon Cemetery on Friday, January 19, 2024.

A public memorial service will be held at Spanish Cove Retirement Village on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Pavilion.  Spanish Cove is located at 11 Palm Avenue in Yukon, Oklahoma 73099.

The family has asked that flowers be sent to Spanish Cove at the above address.
