Pamela Kaye Lawson

Pamela Kaye Lawson, 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Pamela was born on January 13, 1954, in Oklahoma City to Guy and Virginia Lawson. She spent her early childhood in the city before moving to Norman at age 8. At 14, she returned to Oklahoma City, where she graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1972.

A lifelong educator, Pamela earned her Associate's degree from Oklahoma City Community College and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma (then Central State) in 1976. She began her career as a first-grade teacher at Oak Ridge Elementary School, where she shared her love of learning with her young students. In 1984, she completed her Master's in School Counseling and went on to serve as a dedicated school counselor at several elementary schools throughout the Oklahoma City Public School system until her retirement in 2008.

Pamela lived her final year at Saddlebrook Senior Living Center. The family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the sweet staff at Saddlebrook for their kindness and support, as well as to the compassionate team at Suncrest Hospice, who helped keep her comfortable in her final days.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Guy and Virginia Lawson. She is survived by her brother, Stephen Lawson, and his wife, Marquita; her niece, Caitlin, and Caitlin's husband, Ben Finkel, of Boston. Her humor and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Pamela's life will take place on Friday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 500 SW 104th Street, Oklahoma City, OK.
