Patricia Hoppes Brown

Patricia Hoppes Brown (Patt) passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in Long Beach, California, Mom always considered herself a California girl, even after spending most of her life in Oklahoma. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her kind and generous spirit, as well as her deep love for animals.

Mom ​was a caretaker at heart. She dedicated her life to raising​ her children and caring for others. ​ After her children were grown, she worked for a time in nursing and ​then spent many years lovingly caring for stray kittens and dogs. She was a talented poet and artist, often expressing her life experiences through her writing and artwork.

Throughout her life, Mom cherished her friendships, maintaining close bonds with many she had known since junior high and high school. She was a beloved figure in our family, always offering a listening ear and support.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Earl Kany, William Hoppes, and Leland Brown; and life partner John Bracken. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Lawrence Kany, Joseph and Robbie Hoppes, Sharman and Bruce Nixon, Christopher and Barbara Hoppes, and Kim​bra Weiher​ and her significant other Joe Sewell. She also leaves behind her 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mom's love for animals continued throughout her life, and in her later years, she ​doted on her three beloved cats, Missy, Baby, and Patrick, showering them with the same devotion she gave her children. Her life was a testament to beauty, kindness, and gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her name to your local animal shelter, as a tribute to her lifelong passion or planting a tree in her name.
