Patricia Jean "Patty" Newman

Patricia Jean Murphy Newman, age 72, passed away in her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

She was the first of seven children born to Donald and Violet "Pat" (Robinson) Murphy on October 21, 1952, in Sioux City, Iowa. While completing Catholic school at Heelan High and working in the service industry, she met Roy Newman at the Golden Chick in Sioux City. Patricia and Roy married on November 21, 1969, in Moville, Iowa. Roy deployed to Vietnam while she stayed with her parents waiting for the birth of their son, Donald Lee Newman. After Service, they lived in Sioux City, Iowa until they moved their family to Yukon, Oklahoma in July of 1975. This is where Patricia maintained the home, went to beauty school and did hair before starting to work for UtoteM before Circle K took over. In 1983 they moved the family to Piedmont, where she continued to work for Circle K until she retired in 1988. During retirement she enjoyed bowling, cross stitching, and reading. In 2014, Patricia and her son purchased motorcycles and enjoyed riding together along with some nephews and friends. In September of 2019, she moved with her son and grandchildren to Oklahoma City just outside of Yukon and Mustang. She was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She loved her family and would do anything she could to help. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Preceding her in death are her husband Roy Newman, parents Donald and Violet (Robinson) Murphy, her sister Christina Murphy, her in-laws Leonard & Ethel (Treiber) Newman, two brothers-in-law Roger Newman and Jerry Newman, two nephews Gregory Murphy and Christopher Beuchaw, and a niece-in-law Leisa (Newman) Ryder. She is survived by her son Donnie of Oklahoma City and bonus son John McGee of Purcell, OK, a granddaughter Tricia Lynn of Maysville, a grandson Josh of Oklahoma City, four sisters, Vilene (Jim) Savage of Navada, Iowa, Donna Nanney of Yukon, Oklahoma, Kathy (Cary) Burwell of Yukon, Oklahoma, Carol Hall of Yukon, Oklahoma, a brother Grover Murphy Sr. and sister-in-law Debbie, two sisters-in-laws Mavis Newman of Madrid, Iowa and Barbara Newman of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across the country.

Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 5:45 p.m., with the Vigil and Rosary service to follow at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 25 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, OK, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
