Raquel Marie Cummings

Raquel Marie Unruh Cummings was born on February 1, 1981, to Ivan and Marilee Unruh in Tribune Kansas. She departed from this life on March 10, 2024, in Oklahoma City, reaching the age of 43.

Raquel spent her early childhood years on a farm in Western Kansas. Her family moved to Greenwood, Arkansas in 1985. She was educated in a private Christian school through the sixth grade and went on to graduate from Greenwood High School, where she spent many happy hours with friends and family at their lakeside home. Her beauty and infectious personality landed her on every football homecoming court.

She attended one year of college at Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas. Raquel worked with her brother, who was her best friend, on Harvest for several years. She could drive a combine better than any man. She then followed her brother and her father to Oklahoma City to work for O.L. Development. After several years in OKC, she returned to Fort Smith and went to Esthetician school. She started her Esthetician work in Fort Smith and then moved back to Oklahoma City. Raquel started a business where she became the most amazing esthetician OKC had ever experienced. If you were one of her clients, you knew she had a gift. Her facials were one of a kind and her connection with her clients was from the heart.

A framed bible verse on her wall from 1st Thessalonians 4:11 read: "And to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands." Raquel was sharp, bright, and articulate with excellent memory retention. This showed up in her knowledge for her work and her knowledge with the Word of God.

Throughout her life, she had a love for the outdoors. She enjoyed anything athletic, including working out, water skiing, riding her bike around Lake Hefner, or just walking her two amazing dogs. If you knew Raquel, then you met her dogs. She had a strong love for animals, and they loved her right back. She worked several winters on the ski slopes of Colorado and her snow skiing was impressive.

Raquel was the life of the family and any party. If she was in the room, then everyone was going to have a good time. Raquel loved her family, friends but most of all Jesus. When she wasn't reading about Jesus, she was singing about Him, and her singing brought a little heaven to us that experienced it.

We place the last few months of her life in the hands of God. Her battle became front and center at the loss of her dear friend and companion Nick Morgan 2 years ago. Loving, kind, beautiful and full of life was the Raquel we all knew and loved. That is the Raquel we will remember forever.

Raquel is survived by her parents Ivan Unruh of Arkansas; Oren and Marilee Dirks of Galva, Kansas; siblings, Rustin Unruh and wife Leesa Unruh of Oklahoma City and Shayla Reuter and husband Cole Reuter of Tulsa, Oklahoma; friend, Shelby Cummings; grandmother, Dorothy Unruh, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins that all loved her like crazy.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Kenneth and Darlene Unruh and paternal grandfather Russell Unruh.

This beautiful human will leave a hole in the hearts of those that knew and loved her, and the world will be a sadder place without her. Rest in Peace.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at First Baptist Church, Yukon. An additional service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 17, at United Center Mennonite Church, Galva, KS, with interment following at the United Center Mennonite Church Cemetery, Galva, KS.
