Raymond Chester Faye

The world lost a remarkable man on July 6, 2024, when Raymond C Faye, age 80, passed away in Yukon, OK, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, IL, on December 8, 1943. Raymond was the cherished son of Raymond and Rosalie Faye, and the beloved brother of Jeffrey Faye. His father gave him the nickname "Buddy", a name that childhood friends still use to this day. Raymond also had a sister, Patricia, "Sunny", who sadly passed away as a young child.

Raymond had a contagious smile that could light up any room. As a child, he spent his days running around the streets of Chicago with friends, and was often featured on local TV shows for his talents in tap, jazz, and singing. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, where he was an active member of the fraternity Delta Sigma Phi. It was here that he met the love of his life, Mary Jo. They married and began their journey together, eventually celebrating 55 wonderful years of marriage. Raymond proudly served in the Illinois National Guard of the U.S. Army for 6 years before pursuing higher education, later earning his Master's Degree at OCU. In 1983, Raymond and his family moved to Yukon, OK. He transferred with Western Electric, later as AT&T, and then Lucent Technologies to lead their production and manufacturing. He continued to work with the company through many years and acquisitions until his retirement. A loyal family man, Raymond was a professional leader and a hobbyist who enjoyed building small structures and growing plants, skills he inherited from his parents and passed down to his children. He had a special love for black Labradors, having had several over his many years of family life. In retirement, Raymond spent cherished moments with his family, enjoyed time at his Cedar Lake cabins, and stayed active at the hunting and fishing clubs. He was an active member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon, OK. He also loved watching good movies with his sweetheart, Mary Jo. An avid racquetball player, Raymond found decades of joy in the sport. He was proud of his family and proudly spoke of the achievements of his children and grandchildren. A proud father and grandfather, his family meant the world to him.

Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jo, and their children: Amanda Faye Dowd, Barbara Morgan (Chris), and Raymond Faye (Mary). He was a cherished grandfather to Kobe Ross, Savannah Morgan, Alexander Morgan, Joshua Ross, Hope Faye Dowd, Rian Faye Dowd, and Isla Faye. Raymond's legacy of love and dedication will live on through his family. He is also survived by his brother, Jeffrey Faye of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Visitation for Raymond will be held on July 10, 2024, from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at St John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
