Raymond Virgil Smith

With deep love and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Raymond V. Smith on July 22, 2025. He was born on December 18, 1930, in Hominy, Oklahoma, to Emma Cook and Don Smith, and was part of a large, close-knit family.

Raymond was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 75 years, Dorothy Smith; and their children: Brenda Smith and Becky Mitschke of Austin, Texas; Fred and Kat Smith of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Sherry Bradford and Milton McCormick of Yukon, Oklahoma.

He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Matt and Courtney Bradford, and their daughters Mollie Rae and Callie Marie; John and Kassie Bradford of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Carissa and Mike Davis, and their daughters Ciera and Shelby of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Brandon Coffelt and his wife Alyssa, with their son Braylen, of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Raymond also leaves behind his sister, Crystal, and her husband Ed Hutlas of Dallas; his brother-in-law Paul Lott and wife Patti of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; and Leona Goodman of Yukon, Oklahoma.

On August 21, 1950, Raymond married the love of his life, Dorothy Lott, in Dardanelle, Arkansas. That same year, he began his lifelong career with Schlumberger Well Services, where he worked diligently as a mechanic and later rose to the position of division mechanic during his 40 years of service.

Throughout their life together, the Smith family called many places home, including Pawhuska, Enid, Oklahoma and Fort Smith, Arkansas; Wichita Falls and Pampa, Texas; and finally, Yukon, Oklahoma.

In 1950, Raymond answered the call to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard, where he was honorably discharged after nine months due to a heart condition. That same year, he also made the most important decision of his life—accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior and becoming a member of the Nazarene Church. He remained a faithful and devoted servant of Christ until his final breath.

Raymond will be remembered for his love of fishing, especially jug fishing, and his remarkable talent as a jack-of-all-trades. He took great joy in fixing anything mechanical and helping others whenever he could. Above all, Raymond had a loving and giving heart, always putting others before himself.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love that will live on in all who knew him.

Viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 28  at Canadian Hill Church of the Nazarene, Yukon, OK, with interment following at 2:30 p.m. at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy, OK.
