Rhonda Lynn Richey

Quietly and peacefully, on the morning of February 15, 2025, Rhonda's long and courageous battle with ALS came to a merciful end.

Rhonda's life began on July 1st, 1959, in Kingfisher, OK, eventually ending up in Surrey Hills. She attended Yukon Public Schools, where she graduated from Yukon High School in 1977. Always a Sooner, she attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma.

After working and living in Los Angeles for a brief period, Rhonda returned to Yukon, where she married her husband, Mike. Together, they started a family and veterinary practice. After staying home and getting her two kids to school age, she started taking night classes at SNU and obtained her Elementary Education degree. She taught inner-city kids at Eugene Field Elementary in OKC for over two decades until she was physically unable to continue.

Rhonda is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mike Richey; mother, Winnie Freshour; son, Chet Richey; daughter, Jordan Hale; son-in-law, Cameron Hale; and her reason to live, her granddaughter, Aubrey Leigh Hale (Love Bug), and her cherished companions, Annie and Mia.

Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK.
