Ricky Dean Scott

Ricky "Rick" Dean Scott, at age 70, joined his wife in paradise on September 30, 2024. Rick was born on October 7, 1953, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to Melvin Scott and Rowena Scott-Johnson.

Rick was an active kid who loved sports and participated in multiple activities. A few of his favorite sports were football, basketball, and golfing. Many of his family members cherish memories of playing with him. Rick was also a loving husband to the late Tamar Scott, and they had four children together. They enjoyed many great memories throughout their marriage, from skiing in the Rockies to attending hundreds of OU football games. Rick held many jobs throughout his life, each providing him with interesting stories, but he ultimately retired from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. He was affectionately known as a good brother and a committed family member. As an adoring father, he made sure that all of his kids knew he loved them.

Rick was passionate about many things. He was a die-hard OU fan and passed that love on to his family. He often spent weekends on the golf course, either with his company or even with his kids. An avid movie fan, he could name any film you needed. Some of his favorites included the James Bond series, Rio Bravo, and anything with John Wayne. Rick was also a fighter in many ways. Like his wife and many other family members, he was a strong spirit. He fought cancer for four years and understood that it did not define who he was. When asked about his diagnosis, he would often say, "I will leave it to God for what He feels is best." Now, Rick gets to be in paradise with no worries of woes here below.

He passed away six months after the loss of his wife, feeling great grief. He is able to enjoy her company once again, along with many others. He leaves behind his four kids: Jaala, Robert, Rachel, and Nash Scott. He is also survived by his parents, Melvin and Rowena, and his siblings, James, Marsha, David, and Joe.

A viewing will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, located at 1500 W. Vandament Ave, Yukon, OK 73099. A Graveside service will follow at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, OK.
