Roberta Frances Maxey

Roberta Frances (Smith) Maxey, passed away on November 18, 2024, at Arbor House in Mustang, Oklahoma. She was born on May 29, 1925, in Jenks, Oklahoma, to William Norris and Ruth Smith and graduated from Putnam High School.

She met her husband, L.D. Maxey, through her sister-in-law while he was serving in the Navy. They were married on January 26, 1947. Roberta started her career at John A. Brown Company in the credit department, then moved to American Butane and Propane. She later finished her career as a medical resident for Dr. Leroy Goodman in Yukon, Oklahoma, where she worked for 12 years.

A Yukon resident for the last 77 years, Roberta was a lifelong, devoted member of First Baptist Church of Yukon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Maxey; her parents; three sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her sister, Ilene McNeil of Bethany, Oklahoma; her sons, DeWayne Maxey of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Jim Maxey and wife, Priscilla, of Yukon, Oklahoma; and her daughter, Leigh Ann Rausch and husband, Kyle Rausch, of Newalla, Oklahoma.

She is also survived by her granddaughters, Shannon Carrico of Woodward, Oklahoma; Kelli Dever of Yukon, Oklahoma; Amanda Chandler and husband, Matt, of Norman, Oklahoma; and Amy Hood and husband, Jeremy, of Guthrie, Oklahoma; her grandson, Bryan Maxey and wife, LaGena, of Yukon, Oklahoma. Roberta is further survived by seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her immensely.

A viewing will take place from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m, Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, with interment to follow at Yukon Cemetery.
