Rodney "Rod" Duane Milam

Rodney "Rod" Duane Milam, age 78, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away at home on March 11, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rod was born at home on August 23, 1946, near Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Finis and Voleta Milam. He was the youngest of nine children, growing up with four brothers and four sisters.

On March 2, 1973, Rod married the love of his life, Linda Coulson Milam. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion that spanned 52 years. He was a husband, father, brother, and Pa—a role he cherished deeply.

Rod served in the Army Reserves as part of the 95th Infantry Division for six years before embarking on a career in finance and banking in the early 1970s. His keen judgment of character and genuine desire to help others made him well-suited for the industry. He spent over thirty years in banking, with the last 25 years as Executive Vice President at MidFirst Bank. After retiring in May 2001, Rod was able to enjoy 24 years of life on the farm with his family.

Known for his competitive spirit, high energy, and unwavering integrity, Rod had a heart for the underdog and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His sharp sense of humor, strong work ethic, and playful personality left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Rod faced numerous health challenges throughout his life but never allowed them to define him. At age 36, he battled a brain tumor—just the first of many medical hurdles he would overcome. Over the years, he endured another cancer diagnosis, was run over by a tractor, suffered from Transient Global Amnesia, survived two blows to the temple, had an unfortunate encounter with a cow, and narrowly escaped harm from a drunk driver. Despite frequent visits to the emergency room, Rod never complained or saw himself as a victim. His indomitable spirit remained steadfast through every trial, with Linda always by his side. He was a fighter—fighting to survive, fighting to succeed, and fighting for others.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents; seven of his siblings—Wanda, Ben, Sam, Sue, Joyce, Floyd, and Doc; and his father-in-law Dale Coulson.

He is survived by his beloved wife Linda Milam; daughter Melissa Milam; grandchildren Channing Fox and husband Caleb, Alex McCully and Will Pratt; great-grandchildren Piper Lee Henry and Connor Fox; sister Verla Parker; mother-in-law Marlene Coulson; brother-in-law Dr. Keith Coulson and wife Dr. Cathy Sherry; sisters-in-law Becky Kitch and husband Jim and Sherri Coulson; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Rod had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and rarely let a day pass without recognizing the beauty of God's creation. He loved his family fiercely and had a soft spot for his pets and Hereford cattle—spoiling everything he touched. To his family, he was more than just a man; he was their hero.

Rod's legacy of strength, generosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who truly knew him.

Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., on Friday, March 14, 2025 and 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15 at the funeral home. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 17 at First Baptist Church, Mustang, OK, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
