Rubin Martinez

Rubin Martinez was born on August 30, 1935, in Falfurrias, Texas, and passed away on July 23, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma.

He earned a master's degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Following his retirement due to blindness, Rubin remained committed to lifelong learning, developing expertise in computer technology and assistive solutions for individuals with visual impairments.

Rubin proudly served in the United States Army for 38 years, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5), with a specialization in communications. His distinguished military career included deployments to Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm, as well as assignments in Texas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Germany, and other international locations. After retiring from the military, Rubin dedicated his time as a volunteer at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Germaine (Peggy) Martinez; his parents, Raul and Narcissa Garcia Martinez; his brothers, Raul Jr. and Rogerio; and his sisters, Gloria Tamayo, Elva (Keto) Yates, and Gloria Martinez.

Rubin is survived by his brothers, Roel and Rafael Martinez; his sister, Evangelina Hinojosa; his daughters, Melba Doris Estes, Marie Mouton, Belle Martinez, and Cynthia A. Moeykens; his stepson, Mike Beaucourt; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, where Rubin will receive full military honors.
