Russell Douglas Burkhalter

Russell D. Burkhalter, 61, of Yukon, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly on October 25 ^th , 2022.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, November 3 ^rd , 2022 at 11 am at Westside Christian Church, 10145 Northwest Exp., Yukon, OK 73099.

Russell was born on March 20, 1961 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.  Russell graduated in 1979 from Putnam City West. He met the love of his life, Cindy, in 1980. They were married in 1981. They had two children, Zack and Mckenzi. He joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department (OKCFD) in 1990 where he began his life of service. He became an OKCFD paramedic in 1999. After achieving the rank of Major, he was asked to ride out for the chief of district 604 in 2007. He retired in 2015 after 25 years of active service for the OKCFD.

He had the best sense of humor. He was a jack of all trades and loved helping others however he could and expected nothing in return. Russell was a music lover, concertgoer, baseball coach, brick and stone mason, and so much more. His greatest loves were his wife, his children, and being Pop to his grandchildren. His favorite pastime after retirement was raising his chickens.

Russell was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Burkhalter.

He is survived by his wife Cindy; son, Zack and wife Brittany Burkhalter; daughter Mckenzi and husband Justin Harvey; grandchildren, Zane Burkhalter, and Ashton and Westin Harvey; mother, Mildred Love; brother, Todd and wife Tina Burkhalter, and 2 nephews, 1 niece and several great nieces and nephews.
