Ruth Anne Dubois

Ruth Anne DuBois, 77, of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away on December 7, 2023 in Oklahoma City, surrounded by her family. Ruth was born in Chicago on December 17, 1945 where she lived until her family moved to Auburn, Illinois. In Auburn, she met the love of her life, Charles DuBois. They began dating in 1959, started a family, and have been by each other's side through it all. Following a job opportunity, the family moved to Mustang, Oklahoma in 1986.

Ruth was devoted to her family, friends, and faith. She babysat for many years in Auburn, and her home was a place of fun and laughter for many of Auburn's children. In Mustang, she worked in elementary school cafeterias, where she was a friendly face for thousands of kids eating lunch at school. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. John Nepomuk Church, a member of the St. John Altar Society, and a member of the St. John Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Ruth and Chuck put five children through college, four at the University of Oklahoma. Ruth was a passionate fan of OU football.

Throughout her life, Ruth's unconditional love and sense of humor touched many. In Auburn, she was a den mother for the Cub Scouts, and her influence is still felt. She was "everyone's grandma," and made everyone around her feel like family. She loved to cook and bake, visit with friends and family, and enjoy life. She liked to travel, and the family took many memorable trips to Disney World, the Ozarks, and canoeing on the Jacks Fork River. Later in life, she visited the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, California, Hawaii, and family in Sweden. Her family fondly remembers her occasionally streaking through the house, screeching wildly at routine driving situations, and teaching her grandchildren to pee outside. Ruth laughed often, took care of others, and brought love and joy to those around her. It was a life well-lived and well-loved.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George Johanson and Lydia Mae Johanson (Bramlett), and grandson, Charles "Austin" DuBois.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles E. DuBois, brother George Johanson, and five children: Chuck DuBois and Cindy, of Auburn, IL; Tom DuBois and Malinda of Mustang, OK; Michelle Dugan and Jamis Kunzman of Oklahoma City, OK; Chris DuBois and Abby Wightman of Staunton, VA; and John DuBois and Laura Clinton of Washington, OK. Ruth is survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Jennifer DuBois (Evan Whitaker), Courtney DuBois, Kayla Muench (Austin), Connor Dugan (Sarah), Parker Dugan, Colin DuBois, Kaden DuBois, Callum DuBois, Lucy DuBois, Charlie DuBois, and new great-grandson Moxon Muench. Ruth is also survived by brother-in-law Frank DuBois (Candy), sister-in-law Mary Jo Ihlenfeldt, niece Lori Johanson, nephew Todd Johanson (Yoey), and many beloved friends.

Wake services will be held at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 600 Garth Brooks Blvd, Yukon, OK on Friday, December 15, at 7:00 p.m.  After the services in Oklahoma, wake services will be held at Bramley Funeral Home, 550 E. Jackson St, Auburn, IL on Sunday, December 17, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Funeral mass will be held at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 410 N. Auburn St, Auburn, IL on Monday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. with interment services immediately following at Auburn Cemetery, 15125 Kennedy Rd, Auburn, IL.
