Ruth Ann Schmidt

Ruth Ann Schmidt, 76, of Yukon passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born April 15, 1946 in Enid, OK, a daughter of the late B.A. and Blanche Ciskowski.

A 1964 graduate of Medford High School, she then attended Oklahoma State University.

Ruth married Larry Dean Schmidt on December 7, 1968, sharing over 42 years of marriage before his death on September 21, 2011. They were blessed with 4 sons and 6 grandchildren.

She worked in transportation for Yukon Public School, retiring after 26 years of service. Spending most of that time on the Special needs bus which she cherished. Ruth volunteered with Helping Hands and Special Olympics. She was an avid bunko player and enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Colorado with her husband Larry and many family members and friends. A faithful member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon, Ruth was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council #6478, and was also a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Rosary Prayer group and the Altar Society.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Darrin Schmidt of Yukon, Donald Schmidt and wife Stacy of Rogers, AR, Dustin Schmidt and wife Farrah of Yukon, and Derek Schmidt and wife Alicia of Yukon; grandchildren, Aurick, Alivia, Kaden, Kason, Cash, and Cole, and siblings, Marlene Boyer and husband LeRoy of Oklahoma City, and Karolyn McKenna and husband John of San Carlos, CA. She is also survived by her niece, Teresa Carter and husband Jimmy, nephew, Steve Parker and wife Cindy, niece, Caroline McKenna, and nephew, Stephen McKenna, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews, many cousins and her beloved cat, Izzy.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth is also preceded in death by her niece, Alesia Boyer.

Viewing will be held 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the funeral home followed by a Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, OK. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 5, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
