Samuel Kenneth Herd

Samuel Kenneth Herd, known as Sammy or Sam to many, was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 26, 1963 to Carl and Arlene Herd. Sam went to be with our Lord on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Sam is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Herd; father, Carl Herd; son, Jon Austin Herd, and nephew, Benjamin Herd. He is survived by his daughter, Lyndy Herd of Blanchard, OK; sister, Carlene Lindsey and family of Edmond, OK; brother, Dan Herd and family of Yukon, OK; step-mother, Gayle Herd of El Reno, OK; step-sister, Diane Minnis and family of Kingfisher, OK, and step-brother, David Carel and family of Edmond, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly! He was loved by so many.

Sam graduated from Yukon High School in 1982. He had such a love for cars. He worked for C&H Auto and Kwik Change in Yukon before moving on to OG&E. He worked for OG&E as a Fleet Services Specialist for 35 years and retired in 2021. Sam was a great man of faith and lived his life that way. He was always there to help others in any way that he could.  Family and friends were always first with him. So many memories were made - from his 68 Chevelle to his Sooners! He will be missed so very much but remembered by so many with such great memories and love.

A viewing will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, OK on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services to honor his life will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 11 a.m., with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in honor of Sam can be made to the ALS Association of Oklahoma.
