Sharon Kay Huffman

Sharon Kay Huffman was born December 21, 1941, in Hobart, OK to Raymond and Louise Heiney. After a long battle with Parkinson's, Sharon received complete healing on June 18, 2024. She met Ron, the love of her life, in 1956 at Portland Avenue Baptist Church in Oklahoma City where she swept him off his feet.  They were married there on June 15, 1959 and celebrated 65 amazing years together.  They were excited to start their life together and looked forward to starting a family.

In 1962, Ron and Sharon moved to Yukon, OK where she was a grade school secretary at Myers Elementary. She loved to serve wherever her children were and did so by volunteering at their schools. This included being active in the PTA, serving twice as the PTA president.  Sharon also loved to serve others and did so by volunteering at Baptist Integris Hospital.  She was twice elected by her peers as President of the Baptist Integris Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary.

Sharon loved Jesus deeply and was passionate about serving Him wherever she could.  After participating in a Bible Study from the Precept Upon Precept Ministries, she traveled to Chattanooga, TN where she studied under Kay Arthur to become a Precept leader/teacher. Sharon taught Precept Bible studies in her church, to the wives of the Oklahoma City Redhawks AAA baseball team as well as in her home to friends and neighbors. Sharon was not a prideful woman, but took pride in seeing women grow in their faith.

She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon, OK where she served in many capacities including the nursery and was a vital part of registration and housing for the Oklahoma Women's Retreat at Falls Creek for many years.  Her ministry continued at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany where she taught Sunday School, served on various church committees and wherever else there was a need.  Although she was basically a shy person, she always took joy in serving when asked.  Sharon was a prayer warrior who was known to pray earnestly and with purpose.  Whether Sharon was meeting you for the first time or if she had known you for a lifetime, Sharon considered you her friend.

Sharon also loved to read, travel, explore and learn about different cultures.  One of her greatest loves, however, was spending time with her family, especially her children and her grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Louise Heiney.  Survivors include husband Ron Huffman of the home, daughter Dana McAtee and husband Wes, son Todd Huffman and wife Connie, all who reside in Yukon, OK; grandchildren Alexandria Bouillon and husband Jeffrey of Yukon, OK, Tyler Huffman and wife Carissa of Ft. Worth, TX, Jordan Huffman of Broken Arrow, OK, Ashley King and husband Evan of Newcastle, OK; great-grandchildren Theo Bouillon and Elanor King.  She is also survived by her brother, Gary Heiney and her sister, Pat Heffron and husband Larry all of Yukon, OK, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial gifts may be made to Arbor House Assisted Living in Mustang, OK.  Viewing will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Home on Vandament in Yukon, on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024, from 1 pm to 5 pm with the family present from 3 pm to 5 pm.  A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 24, 2024, at 1:30 pm in the chapel at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery on Garth Brooks Blvd. immediately following the service.
