Steve Eldon Wells

Yukon's Steve Eldon Wells, 70, died suddenly January 23rd, 2024, after an accidental fall.  He was born May 21st, 1953, in Wichita, KS to Lee and Mary Wells.

Steve started his career at VePed while in high school.  He later went on to work for the City of Midwest City as the supervisor of traffic signal maintenance and Midstate Traffic Control.   After earning his associate degree in electronics, he returned to VePed as a traffic signal equipment salesman.  He moved his family to Cincinnati, OH to start a new distributorship for traffic signal equipment.  Within 3 years, he added a second business in Kansas City, KS.  In 1981, he sold his part of the business to move his family back to Oklahoma. Upon his return, he rejoined as a partner of Midstate.  After a short time, he became sole owner and in 2023, Midstate celebrated 50 years in business.  In 1991, he started two more businesses, Midstate Manufacturing and Marketing and American Logo and Sign.  In 1997, he started a leasing and real estate business called Sawhorse Investments.  His passion to create safer highways led him to start Brifen USA, a manufacturer of wire rope safety fence used on roads all over the US.  During his career, he has been a member of AOGC, OMCA, and ATSSA where he served on their boards at various times.  More important to him than his career, Steve valued his Christian belief.  He proudly served many years as an Elder and finance manager at Town and Country Christian Church.  There he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School as well as small group bible studies.

When Steve wasn't working, he loved spending time with his family.  His hobbies were drag racing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family at the lake and his ranch.

Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beckey (Shrum); daughter, Leslie and her husband Scott of Oklahoma City; son, Aaron and wife Charity of Edmond; grandchildren, Tyler, Kenzie, and Anakyn; brothers, Keith and Rexanne Proctor of Oklahoma City, and Kevin and wife Vanessa from Yukon, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was our hero, our love, our daddy, our papa, our best friend, our most faithful supporter, and our biggest fan.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 29th at Town & Country Christian Church in Yukon, OK, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
