Susan Leslie Carrion

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and great friend, Susan Leslie Carrion, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 78 years old at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Susan was born on June 30, 1946, in Torrance, California, and became the second-born daughter to the late Gordon and June Steenbock. Torrance is where she lived most of her life, in the surrounding areas, until she moved to El Reno, Oklahoma, in 2008 at the age of 62 to live closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Mom loved all three of her children: Aron Holmgren, Sean Holmgren, and Stacy Howlingwater. Grandma was the best grandmother to all thirteen grandchildren: Tara Henthorn, Raini Howlingwater, Emma Howlingwater, Layla Howlingwater, Trey Howlingwater, Patrick Holmgren, Illeanna Holmgren, Victoria Holmgren, Nikki Holmgren, London Holmgren, Chase Holmgren, Megan Holmgren, and Madison Holmgren. She was an especially wonderful great-grandmother to her great-grandchildren: Isaac Black, Jacob Henthorn, Anna Henthorn, and Charlotte Henthorn.

Sue was an amazing sister to her siblings: Carol Kahler, Alison Newman, Debbie Gallagher, Kimberly McConnon, and Mark Steenbock. Susan made her journey to Heaven and was reunited with her parents, Gordon and June Steenbock; her sister, Debbie Gallagher; and her son, Sean Holmgren.

Grandma was the most selfless person. She would give you the jacket off her back or the last penny she had if she knew she was helping you in any way. Grandma was a devout Christian and walked through life with the good Lord by her side. Grandma believed that family was everything and helped shape all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren into the people they are today.

She especially enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether it be taking them to a sports game or cooking a meal for us all. Quality time meant everything to her. She would've picked quality time over anything of monetary value. Grandma remained the strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman she always was until she took her last breath. We are all going to miss her dearly, every day, until we are reunited with her in Heaven.
