Terry James Awbrey

Our fiercely loved life of the party dad, husband, papaw, uncle, son, brother, friend, Terry Awbrey, passed away on October 20, 2023. His laugh filled the room and often enough to embarrass his girls (which may have been intentional). He loved 'his girls' and always said that they were proof he did something right in his life. His grandkids were the joys of his life, and they all wanted to talk to him or sit by him when he was there. Some of his favorite times were spent hunting, fishing, and patio hanging with his nephew and best friend, Thom Awbrey. He married "the love of his life" and they were frequently seen enjoying margaritas, eating at Eischen's, fishing, or sitting on their patio watching the deer visit. He lived his life big and encouraged everyone around him to as well.

Terry was born on May 13, 1958, to Barbara and Thomas Awbrey. He was one of 5 children and acted as an ornery brother, uncle, and friend. He graduated from El Reno High School where he met his wife Michelle (Lawless) Awbrey and many life-long friends. He worked as a welder and then an engineer in the railroad.

He left us too early and we could list most that knew him as survivors. There were so many in his life that he made a lasting impression on.

When you remember him or look at his pictures; hear his laugh, remember his love, and think of him cracking a joke. Michelle, Kristina & Kyle Dover, Terra, Apryl, and Thom & Jennifer Awbrey, and the joys of his life (Awbrey, Kendall, Elijah and Oaklynn) invite you to celebrate him at the visitation at Yanda & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This will be followed by a celebration of his life at the Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 26, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, OK.
