Dr. Thomas Allen David

Dr. Thomas Allen David, born September 21, 1942, to Max and Frances David in Ada, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior August 31, 2023. Viewing will be held 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 4, 2023 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, at Covenant Community Church, Yukon, with burial to follow in Yukon Cemetery under the direction of Yanda and Son Funeral Home.

Tom was reared in Shawnee, graduating from Shawnee High School and then earned his bachelor's degree at Oklahoma Baptist University. After obtaining his doctorate of dentistry from Baylor University School of Medicine, he went on to attend Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, where he met his first wife, Ann-Mary Green of Lawton, OK, also a student at Southwestern. They were married in February of 1969. Completing his theological degree, he did his Masters of Public Health degree work at the University of Minnesota. While there they welcomed twins Susan Faye and Jennifer Ann.

He opened his first dental practice in Yukon in 1972 and son Michael was born shortly thereafter. He eventually moved his practice to Oklahoma City where he practiced family and missionary dentistry for the next 42 years.

Ann-Mary died in 1984 and Tom married Ann Karen Miller in 1990 and became stepfather to Ann's three children, Jill, Paige and Brooke.

A faithful member of Covenant Community Church, he served as an elder, chaired or participated as a member of the missions team for decades in addition to leading numerous bible studies. Tom's greatest passion in life was serving his Lord, loving his family and serving missionaries in the U.S. and abroad. He and Ann took numerous mission trips. Upon learning of his illness and pending departure, numerous missionaries throughout the world expressed their love for him because of his love of them, his prayers, financial support and dental services he provided at night and on weekends. Several years after his retirement, Tom and Ann went to Peru to provide dental treatment for the poor there.

Tom felt to have an intimate love relationship with Jesus, he could never cease his study of what He had done for him. Tom created reams of material to deepen his knowledge with personal studies. He was an accomplished pianist and he and Ann would visit ailing friends or church members soothing them with traditional songs and music. Ann serenaded him into the arms of Jesus at his departure. In addition, in respect for Ann's Kiowa heritage, he learned to play the flute and created many beautiful and spiritual tunes.

Tom's dad taught him the joy of tennis when young and he played for Shawnee High School, Oklahoma Baptist and Baylor. Susan, Jennifer and Michael got their rackets and tutoring around the ages of 6 or 7. He and his tennis buddy, Dub Rogers, were well known in the Oklahoma City area tennis circles. Late in his life, he decided he wanted to learn how to fish and built a family retreat in Medicine Park to be close to his fishing mentor and partner Jim Ferguson. He was skilled in racquetball being challenged by partner Jim Bitner. Tom and Ann enjoyed walking and observing God's majesty and beauty in Yukon's parks. Another joy for Tom was his sailboat and he frequently took family and friends sailing on Lake Hefner.

His daughters recall how he learned to use a sewing machine to create stylish, creative and beautiful clothing for them with a special "Custom Made for you by Tom David" label.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Frances David and first wife, Ann-Mary. He is survived by wife Ann, her children Jill, Paige and Brooke; his children Susan, Jennifer and Michael; his brother Don and wife Tiana David of Broomfield, CO; a niece Sarah David; nephew Paul David;13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and special cousin Julie McShane.
