Timothy Paul Hathaway

Timothy Paul Hathaway, affectionately known as Tim, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 72. Born on January 13, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to Lloyd and Marian Hathaway, Tim grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, where he attended Lutheran West High School before graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Tim had a remarkable career as an electrical engineer and IT specialist. He enjoyed the challenge of fixing and solving problems, particularly with computers, and was always eager to learn something new. Outside of work, Tim was an avid sailor in his earlier years, and his love of learning led him to take French lessons, often over the phone. He and his wife, Patricia Susan Hathaway, shared their home and hearts with numerous international students, many from France, creating a legacy of cultural exchange and hospitality.

Tim's faith was central to his life. He loved digging into the Bible, led numerous Bible studies, and was an active member of his church. While living in San Diego, he played a vital role in the Survivors of Suicide Loss community, facilitating weekly meetings and organizing yearly awareness walks to bring healing and hope to others.

Known for his wit, intelligence, and sarcasm, Tim had a unique sense of humor that left a lasting impression on those around him. He was a master of making up sayings on the spot and had a knack for bringing smiles to those he loved. With his beloved wife Patricia, affectionately called "Patty Cakes," he shared a playful and endearing banter that highlighted their deep bond. Their story began in San Diego, CA, where they met in the same apartment complex. Patricia famously asked him for ketchup, only for Tim to teasingly say no, sparking a connection that led to their marriage on February 26, 1977.

Tim cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his sons Patrick (Morgan) Hathaway and David (Ashley) Hathaway; and his grandchildren Audree, Liam, Preston, and Brooklyn. He was preceded in death by his sons Michael and Brandon Hathaway. Tim also leaves behind his siblings Thomas Hathaway, Naomi Heselton, and Jonathan Hathaway, as well as his childhood friend Phillip LoPiccolo and close friend Bob Biron, who were influential figures in his life.

Timothy's values of honesty, integrity, accountability, and responsibility inspired all who knew him. He lived a life of love, learning, and faith, rooted in his favorite Bible verse, Genesis 1:1: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 8, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Christ's Church of Yukon, with a reception to follow for family and friends. Tim will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Survivors of Suicide Loss San Diego in honor of Tim's commitment to this important cause. His life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and perseverance.
