Virginia Mary Crane

Virginia "Jenny" Mary (Robinson, Stonebraker) Crane, age 81, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She was born on April 11, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, to Everett Rosco Robinson and Idella Mildred (Stevens) Robinson. The youngest of six children, Jenny's early life was spent in Topeka, where she attended Washburn Rural High School and later pursued some college classes at Washburn University following her high school graduation in 1961.

Jenny married Larry Stonebraker on December 9, 1962, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Nancy. Together, they raised four children before divorcing in 1977. On July 25, 1987, Jenny married Robert Daniel Crane, and the couple moved to Yukon, Oklahoma, where Jenny lived for the past 37 years.

Jenny was a devoted and passionate member of Liberty Church in Yukon, where she not only served her church community but also gave generously of her time and talents to the Black Robe Regiment with Dan Fisher. Over the years, she became known for her deep involvement in both her church and the broader Yukon community. She volunteered at Shedeck Elementary School in the physical education department, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, the Citizens Police Academy in Yukon, the Civic Center in Oklahoma City, and the Yukon Veterans Museum. Jenny was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the High Noon Club.

For 20 years, Jenny worked as a Physical Education Teacher at Redland Community College, retiring from that position. She also taught aerobics at Yukon Community Center and led various types of fitness classes, sharing her love of health and physical activity with others.

Jenny was a card-playing fool—especially when it came to Hand and Foot canasta. She loved gathering with family and friends for friendly but fiercely competitive card games, and her enthusiasm for the game was unmatched. Outside of her love for cards, Jenny was a devoted sports fan, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas University Jayhawks, and Oklahoma University Sooners.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Everett Rosco Robinson and Idella Mildred (Stevens) Robinson; her siblings, Catherine M. (Robinson, Young) Gringer, Pauline Idella (Robinson) Baatrup, and Bruce Oliver Robinson; as well as her loving husband, Robert "Bob" Daniel Crane.

She is survived by her two sisters, Janice Joan (Robinson) Graves and Nancy Mildrid (Robinson) Ehrlich. She will be deeply missed by her four children: Quentin Dean Stonebraker, Rodney Warren Stonebraker, Paul Daniel Stonebraker, and Stacy Shea (Stonebraker) Christiansen, and her son-in-law, Brian Christiansen.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Ashley Marie (Stonebraker) Watkins and her husband, Chris; Amanda Marie Stonebraker; Austin Daniel Stonebraker and his wife, Anna; and Tanner Wilson Christiansen and his wife, Becca. Her legacy lives on in her eight great-grandchildren: Dyllon Wilson, Dakota Wilson, Destinie Hidalgo, Ethan Hidalgo Jr., Benson Watkins, Donovan La Coursiere, Merida La Coursiere, and Camden Christiansen.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Liberty Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, with lunch to follow. A second celebration of Jenny's life will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Dugout Bar & Grill, 1545 SW Fairlawn Rd., Topeka, KS. This informal gathering will allow friends and family to come together to share memories and honor Jenny's legacy. Jenny will be inurned at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, at a later date.
