Wanda Marie Akers

Wanda Marie (Crouch) Akers passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. A service in her honor will be held at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Oklahoma, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Wanda was born on March 25, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Pete and Ruth Crouch. She was the youngest of four children. Her family later moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma, where she was raised and graduated from high school while her parents owned and operated a local bakery. Shortly after graduating, Wanda moved to Oklahoma City, where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Throughout her career, Wanda held a variety of jobs, but she spent more than 30 years working at Concentra Medical as a billing poster. Over the years, her coworkers became like a second family to her. She was deeply respected and loved by those she worked with and will be greatly missed.

Wanda had a deep love for animals and always had dogs, cats, or both in her home. She could not bear to see animals suffer and often took in strays. Even in her final days, she was caring for a stray cat in her backyard. At the time of her passing, she had three beloved cats—Felix, Oscar, and Elvis—who have since been adopted by her colleagues at Concentra.

She also enjoyed staying connected with her extended family through Facebook, where she kept up with her nieces, nephews, and their families. Wanda loved sharing updates about them and took great pride in their lives. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and her great-granddaughter held an especially special place in her heart. She was affectionately known as "Mamaw," a name she cherished.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ruth (Snyder) Crouch; her brother, Myron Crouch; and her sister, Donna (Crouch) Detrixhe.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Crouch) Clark; her son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lori Akers; her grandchildren, Tanner and Trevor Akers; her great-granddaughter, Blakely Akers; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
