William "Bill" Carl Webb

William Carl "Bill" Webb was born in Danville, Illinois, on March 6, 1957. He was raised in Oklahoma City with his four younger siblings and graduated from Putnam City Original in 1975. Bill's upbringing at Westminster Presbyterian Church had a profound impact on his life, particularly the family's longtime relationship with Rev. Richard Hershberger, of whom he spoke regularly. Bill spent almost all of his adult life in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was part of an unbelievable "family" of fellow musicians and travelers.

Bill was a gifted musician, a lifetime learner and teacher, a well-read philosopher, and a compassionate, natural giver. Bill found a way to communicate with anyone through music, and his tunes are a thread connecting all who loved him. He thrived on having a purpose and a "job" to do, and he had a keen sense of humor and was a witty, clever writer. Bill was also a skilled carpenter and meticulous craftsman.  He loved being outdoors, and he despised wearing shoes. He was devoted, grateful, unorthodox, and free thinking. Bill will always be known as our "Best Hugger", and we will miss him.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents George Boardman Webb and Nancie Carnahan Webb, ex-wife and long-time friend and caregiver Jan Godfrey (Tim Holmes), brother-in-law Blake Boyd (Susan), nephew Peter Webb, and his best friend Merle. He is survived by his siblings Susan Webb Boyd (Pierre), Patti Webb Morris (Mike), Betsy Webb Windholz (Tom), and Jim Webb (Stacy), and numerous nephews and nieces.

Bill's family stretched far beyond blood relationships. His siblings are forever grateful to his extraordinary friends in Tallahassee, especially Anthony Giordano, Laura DiMarco, Kate Taluga, and Gus Johnson, as well as the wonderful caregivers at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and Big Bend Hospice.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 1:00 - 4:00 P.M., at the Tallahassee Senior Citizen Center, 1400 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee FL 32303. Bill's ashes will be interned at Frisco Cemetery in Yukon, Oklahoma, in a private family ceremony.
